Spilling the Tea on our Hero Ingredients

Every now and then, there seems to be a new skincare ingredient trending in the beauty space, but how many of them are effective? Our goal as a company is to be transparent about the ingredients we use and ensure that everything we put into our products is plant-powered, nature-derived, and infused with skincare to treat and benefit the skin. They are all chosen specifically to aid in calming and soothing all skin conditions as well as nurture dry, itchy skin and scalps, and radiation burns from cancer treatments.

​​Sweet LeiLani Cosmetics has made a positive change in the lives of cancer survivors over the 30-year span of volunteering services of wig styling and areola tattooing as well as corrective makeup to help aid with skin conditions from treatments. 

With our 100% plant-based products, we firmly believe that the most powerful effects come from nature. Botanical ingredients offer unique properties that can make our formulas more effective, without the hazards of synthetic ingredients. Some carcinogens, such as formaldehyde and formaldehyde-releasing preservatives, are common in popular beauty products. The disruption of cellular metabolic processes plays a detrimental role in our bodies and it is important to use clean ingredients to avoid this. What we call our hero extracts were chosen to specifically aid in calming, soothing, and nurturing radiation burns, and skin conditions related to cancer treatments found in all products. 

Sweet LeiLani Cosmetics made our start in paramedical corrective makeup and has since made a positive change in the lives of cancer survivors over the thirty- year span of volunteering services of wig styling and areola tattooing as well as corrective makeup to help aid with skin conditions from treatments. The clients we worked with required pure formulas that incorporate calming ingredients and have buildable coverage, which allows the skin to breathe and heal.

• Green Tea is also a well-known and beloved skincare ingredient that draws its power from a type of plant compound that acts to regenerate damaged blood vessels and act as an anti-inflammatory.
• Rosehip has incredible healing properties for sensitive skin, aiding to relieve dry, itchy skin and repairing burns from radiation. With high levels of essential fatty acids, rosehip can soften skin and improve your skin’s natural barrier.
• Grape Seed is loaded with ​​antioxidant power to feed, nourish, and protect the skin, absorbing deep to relieve dry itchiness. The properties retain the skin’s moisture while restoring elasticity and protecting it from environmental damage.
• Witch Hazel: is a known skincare component that involves a strong astringent to aid in reducing inflammation and tannins to repair skin sores. These plant-based compounds also have antioxidant effects on the skin.

Our founder, LeiLani, built the Face the Future Program as a platform to help raise awareness around the importance of healing patients inside and out. Her pro-bono work and sponsorship programs include the British Columbia Cancer Society, Firefighter Burn Fund, Burn Camps, and Lupus Camps. Our roots in serving the burn, trauma, and cancer communities are the reason Sweet LeiLani exists today.
