What is Hyaluronic Acid and How Does it Fit into my Skincare Routine?

Hyaluronic acid. We’ve all heard it floating around in the beauty space and it’s been deemed a cult favourite by top models, actresses, and influencers. But what is it exactly?

While it’s a trendy ingredient in skincare, hyaluronic acid is also produced by our bodies to retain water, which helps plump and hydrate the skin, giving us a glowy complexion. When applied topically, it has the same effect— hydrated and supple skin. The benefits of hyaluronic acid are endless but we’re going to try and sum it all up for you and give you our advice on how to integrate it into your skincare routine.

So let’s start here, the benefits of hyaluronic acid, also known as “HA,” for the skin are pretty amazing. As we mentioned before, HA has powerful water retention properties and when used in serums and creams, HA brings moisture to the surface of the skin. As a result, fine lines and wrinkles often become less visible and we see increased firmness, elasticity, and resilience in our skin. Sounds pretty great, right? Dermatologists even say that hyaluronic acid works for any skin type, even sensitive or breakout-prone skin.

So how does it fit into your routine? HA is safe for everyday use because, unlike some acids, hyaluronic acid doesn’t strip the skin or exfoliate. It’s particularly refreshing in winter when the dry air starts to settle in and you start to feel those dry patches on your skin. Integrating it into your skincare routine fortifies your skin’s natural barricades to lock in moisture and committing to HA for the long haul will absolutely help maintain your youthful glow.

We have a line up of products from our Collections that are loaded with this good stuff, including our Skin Perfecting Primer & our Blemish, Bags, and More.

Both products combine witch hazel to lock in hydration and hyaluronic acid as a carrier to deliver nutrients to the skin tissue, boost collagen, and enhance elasticity. These products are perfect for those looking to start implementing anti-ageing techniques into their routines, or for those who are looking to heal and soothe damaged tissue.

Our Plant Therapy Line, including serums which are lightweight and deeply penetrating, not only contain Moringa Oil to slow the ageing process and repair and protect against environmental stressors but are also infused with hyaluronic acid to quench skin.

We hope our crash course gave you some insight into the wonders of hyaluronic acid. If you’d like to chat more about it, send us an email and one of our in-house artists can provide you with more information on how to integrate HA into your everyday routine.
